Rakhi ~ Collection 1

  • $ 15.00

After all these years of hoarding boxes full of craft supplies for nonexistent projects....last night for some strange reason, delirious with sleep, I did a marathon session of making #rakhis with whatever limited supplies I had for making them.

I have limited quantities only probably 60 or 75 total. Please msg me if you want to get any and the corresponding number. Yes I made them all including the quilling thing which I had learnt 8 years ago. I have a box full of petals and leave from a plane journey. 🙈 I don’t have too many colors for base and so made what I could with supplies on hand.

“ RakshaBandhan. ... On this day, sisters of all ages tie a rakhi, around the wrists of their brothers, symbolically protecting them, receiving a gift in return, and traditionally investing the brothers with a share of the responsibility of their potential care.”

I have changed that to be the love and care between any sibling regardless of gender or blood connection. So 2 siblings tie a thread of bonding, of love and commitment to care for one another. Back in the days there were many wars do the brother went to battle and ensured protection for sister but while we don’t have those wars we know we have our own wars that is happening in our lifetimes and having a support system is so crucial that will look out for you. I am fortunate to have many siblings (cousins included) even though they live far away.
